Directors' Message

Welcome to the Northwestern Scleroderma Program website. Scleroderma is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects every organ. Because to date it has no approved therapy, scleroderma represents a major unmet medical need. The Northwestern program is dedicated to making a difference for people living with scleroderma.

The program brings together clinicians, investigators and allied health professionals from a variety of disciplines from throughout Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and our affiliated hospitals and care sites. We are committed to developing innovative approaches for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of scleroderma.

Investigators with the Northwestern Scleroderma Program are exploring fundamental aspects of inflammation and fibrosis, developing molecular and imaging approaches to accurately diagnose scleroderma and evaluate disease activity, and studying innovative scleroderma therapies with the goal of achieving durable remission.

During the past several years, the Northwestern Scleroderma Program has enlisted clinicians and investigators devoted to the prevention and cure of scleroderma. The program capitalizes on the talents and expertise of scientists throughout the Northwestern community and beyond. We build collaborative networks across campus, nationally and internationally in order to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and effective therapy.
