Swati Bhattacharyya, PhD

Swati Bhattacharyya, PhD

Dr. Bhattacharyya is a Research Assistant Professor in Rheumatology and Scientific Director of the Scleroderma Research Laboratories.  Her studies focus on how inflammation leads to the development of fibrosis in scleroderma, and how novel therapies can block and reverse the process.  Dr. Bhattacharyya earned her PhD in biochemistry from Jadavpur University in Kolkata, India.

Jun Wei, PhD

Jun Wei, PhD

Dr. Wei is a Research Assistant Professor in the Scleroderma Research Lab.  He investigates the molecular pathways involved in the development of fibrosis in scleroderma.  Currently, he is studying PPAR-gamma, a receptor in the nucleus of cells that controls which cells become fat cells (fat cell differentiation).  Research suggests this process might be altered in scleroderma.  Dr. Wei earned his PhD in developmental biology from Wuhan University in China.

Roberta Gonçalves Marangoni, MD, PhD

Dr. Marangoni is Research Assistant Professor in the Scleroderma Research Lab.  She earned her MD at the University of Santo Amaro in Brazil, and completed residency training in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at the University of São Paulo in Brazil. She received her PhD in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of São Paulo, and joined the lab in 2011. Her current research investigates the role of metabolism in fibrosis.
